Nirnay is a Gujarati Calendar app that provides a traditional print copy look and feel, with the added benefit of user interaction. It allows users to find more details about specific dates and events. The app offers easy visual representations of important Hindu events, such as Ekadashi, Paksha (Sud, Vad), Poonam (Full Moon), and Amavasya. What sets Nirnay apart is its use of images to represent key events, making it accessible even to those who cannot read Gujarati.

In Vedic timekeeping, a tithi represents a lunar day, defined as the time it takes for the longitudinal angle between the Moon and the Sun to increase by 12°. Tithis vary in duration from approximately 19 to 26 hours, with their start times varying throughout the day. Tithis are crucial in the Indian Almanac or Panchang, as Hindu festivals and ceremonies are calculated based on them. The Hindu calendar system is lunar-based, consisting of twelve months and totaling 354 days per lunar year. This differs from the commonly used Georgian (English) calendar, which follows the solar (Sun) system and consists of 365 ¼ days.

To reconcile the solar year with the lunar year, an additional month called Adhik Maas (Extra Month) is added to the Hindu calendar every three years. In Vedic timekeeping, every second is part of a Muhrat (moment), which can be auspicious or inauspicious depending on nakshatra (constellation) and tithi. Understanding these complexities can be challenging for many individuals. Thankfully, the Nirnay iOS App simplifies this by combining the lunar and solar calendar in an easy-to-understand format. With Nirnay, users can easily determine when to celebrate Hindu festivals and identify the most auspicious times for various religious and non-religious activities, ensuring they are performed at a favorable Muhrat.
